OPINION: If you claim to be “woke,” when exactly were you asleep during the fight against injustice and racism? Was it when systemic issues were glaringly obvious but ignored, or when historical wrongs were reduced to talking points? Being truly aware means recognizing that these struggles have always been present, not a trend to latch onto for social clout. How could anyone be “unaware” of something so deeply woven into the fabric of society unless they chose not to see it?

The Doomsday Machine

For years, the left has relied on a steady diet of fear to rally its base. Climate change was their first and most enduring boogeyman, with predictions of mass extinction, submerged coastlines, and uninhabitable Earth dominating their messaging. Yet, despite decades of dire warnings, their solutions have proven either ineffective or economically destructive.

Green energy initiatives, for instance, have driven up costs for average Americans while failing to deliver the promised utopia. Meanwhile, their apocalyptic rhetoric about the climate crisis has been undermined by glaring hypocrisies—politicians who fly private jets to climate summits or purchase beachfront mansions despite their own claims that the seas are rising. People are waking up to the fact that the environmental doomsday clock has been ticking for decades, with the hands never moving forward.

When climate panic failed to galvanize sufficient action, the left shifted to a new narrative: the rise of fascism. Under this storyline, anyone right of Bernie Sanders was rebranded as a “Nazi” or an agent of authoritarianism. Donald Trump became their ultimate villain, a supposed dictator in waiting. Yet, after years of investigations, impeachments, and breathless media coverage, the evidence of Trump’s supposed authoritarianism remains elusive. Americans began to see through the exaggerations and hyperbole, recognizing that the left was weaponizing language to delegitimize dissent.

The Politics of Exhaustion

The problem with fear-based politics is that it has a shelf life. People can only be scared for so long before they tune out. The left has overplayed its hand, bombarding the public with so many existential threats that the average American has become numb to their cries of doom. When every Republican policy is described as the end of democracy, and every conservative figure is labeled a white supremacist, those terms lose their power.

Take their handling of Trump. After years of branding him as a unique threat to the republic, they have now expanded their attacks to his supporters, effectively alienating half the country. The left has so thoroughly demonized anyone who disagrees with them that they’ve made reconciliation impossible. Their refusal to compromise or engage in honest debate has created a political stalemate where the only way forward is to double down on their existing strategies, no matter how unpopular or ineffective those strategies may be.

Woke Ideology as a Last Resort

The left’s embrace of wokeness is not a sign of strength but of desperation. When all other avenues have failed, they’ve turned to identity politics and cultural warfare as their primary tools. By focusing on issues like gender identity, racial grievance, and historical revisionism, they hope to create a moral panic that will distract from their policy failures. But this strategy is backfiring spectacularly.

Wokeness has alienated ordinary Americans who are tired of being lectured, guilted, and told that their country is irredeemably racist. It has turned public schools into battlegrounds, where parents are forced to fight for the right to decide what their children are taught. It has made corporations like Disney and Bud Light symbols of a cultural overreach that puts ideology above customers. Far from uniting the country, woke ideology has divided it further, creating resentment and backlash among those who feel targeted or ignored.

Even worse, wokeness has proven incapable of delivering the results it promises. Despite all the rhetoric about diversity, equity, and inclusion, these programs have done little to address real-world disparities. Instead, they’ve created new forms of discrimination, pitting groups against each other in a zero-sum game of victimhood. The average American, regardless of their background, can see through the emptiness of these initiatives, recognizing them as hollow gestures that prioritize optics over substance.

Why America Has Had Enough

The backlash against the left’s agenda is not limited to conservatives; it’s a broader cultural shift. Americans of all political persuasions are increasingly rejecting the divisive, authoritarian tendencies of the woke movement. They’re tired of being told what they can say, what they can think, and how they should live their lives. They’re fed up with policies that prioritize ideology over practicality, whether it’s defunding the police, open-border policies, or punitive regulations that hurt small businesses.

The left’s inability to adapt to this growing discontent is their greatest weakness. Rather than course-correct, they’ve chosen to dig in, insisting that any opposition to their agenda is proof of ignorance or bigotry. This arrogance has alienated swing voters, suburban families, and even lifelong Democrats who no longer recognize the party they once supported.

Meanwhile, the right has capitalized on this frustration by offering a vision of America that prioritizes freedom, opportunity, and national pride. While the left wallows in grievance and despair, conservatives are focused on solutions that resonate with everyday Americans. From economic policies that put money back in people’s pockets to education reform that empowers parents, the right is presenting a clear alternative to the chaos of wokeness.

The Left’s Unraveling

The left’s doubling down on their failed ideology is not a sign of resilience but of weakness. They’ve painted themselves into a corner, unable to abandon the very narratives that have driven their movement for years. But Americans have had enough. They’re tired of being manipulated by fear, exhausted by the endless culture wars, and ready for a return to common sense and unity.

The unraveling of the left is inevitable because it’s built on a foundation of contradictions and overreach. Wokeness was never a solution; it was a distraction, a way to avoid addressing the real issues facing the country. But as the public grows wise to their tactics, the left will find that their fear-mongering and moral posturing no longer hold sway.

America is ready for a change, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that the left has nothing left to offer.
