Trump Attends Wake for NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller, Calls for Law and Order

On a solemn Thursday afternoon, the community and dignitaries gathered at a funeral home in Massapequa Park to honor the life of Jonathan Diller, a New York Police Department officer who tragically lost his life earlier in the week. Among those in attendance was Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States, who emphasized the urgent need for “law and order” in the wake of this heartbreaking event.

“It’s a profoundly sorrowful occasion, a terrible tragedy that’s becoming all too common. We cannot stand by and allow this to continue,” Trump expressed during his visit.

Officer Diller met a tragic end on Monday during a routine traffic stop in Queens when he was fatally wounded. The suspect, 34-year-old Guy Rivera, who had a history of 21 prior arrests, allegedly fired at Diller, striking him in the abdomen as the officer attempted to persuade Rivera to step out of the car. The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m., initiated because the car was illegally stationed at a bus stop.

At the age of 31, Diller had been a devoted member of the NYPD for three years, residing in Massapequa Park with his spouse and their son, who was nearly one year old at the time of the incident.

Trump, having announced his plans to attend the wake the day before, joined the mourning family and colleagues of Officer Diller. The news of his attendance was shared by Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, who stated, “President Trump is deeply moved by the invitation to stand with the family and colleagues of Officer Jonathan Diller as they mourn his senseless and tragic passing.”

Trump has been vocal about his concerns regarding crime rates in various cities under the current administration, frequently discussing the issue in public appearances, including a notable speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference last month.

“In my warnings four years ago, I outlined the grave consequences of Joe Biden assuming presidency – the erasure of our borders, the destruction of our middle class, and our communities being overrun with violence, chaos, and crime. Sadly, we were right,” Trump remarked recently.

In an interview with the New York Post, Trump criticized what he termed the “radical lunatic left” for undermining urban centers and hampering police work.

The aftermath of the tragic event saw Rivera charged with first-degree murder of a police officer, among other offenses. Lindy Jones, another individual present in the vehicle during the fatal encounter, faced charges including criminal possession and defacement of a weapon.

Trump reflected on the gravity of the situation, lamenting the recurring legal offenses by the accused and their apparent disregard for law enforcement, which led to such a devastating loss. “We’ve seen this thug arrested 21 times, and his accomplice also has a lengthy criminal record. This lack of respect for law and order is unacceptable, and tragedies like this should never happen,” he stated, expressing his condolences to Diller’s widow and their young child.

Amidst the mourning, a statement from Leavitt on her social media highlighted a critique of President Biden, noting his attendance at a high-profile fundraiser instead of the wake, a point of contention for the Trump campaign.

The White House, through spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre, acknowledged that President Biden had been in talks with Mayor Eric Adams regarding the officer’s death, though no further details on private communications were disclosed.

Officer Diller’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday in Massapequa, where friends, family, and the community will gather to pay their final respects.

  1. President Biden has no real feeling for Law Enforcement. Crime, people’s hardships, homelessness,Veterans etc. If Biden cared for its citizens then we would never send people to give them the incentive to come here illegally by the hundreds of thousands maybe millions we have no idea because we are not veting any of them. Why do u think the Biden Administration is encouraging it. Instead why did it not cross this Administration mind that we were healing from a lockdown things that benefit our citizens were neglected and we needed our finances to fix America and its people.
Did u the citizens of America ask that important questions? Answer NO. I ask why did u Biden make it more impossible for us? Why is everyone more important than we are that would be Americans who pays for all this? Shame on you President Biden that’s not what a President does to its voters and taxpayers. Shame on u again.
